Douglas Brainin is one of the foremost experts on content licensing in broadcast and digital media. Mr. Brainin oversees all of Music Report's business operations including finance, strategy, marketing and systems development. Under Mr. Brainin's direction, Music Reports has built a best-of-breed technical and licensing infrastructure to facilitate speed to market for content distributors and to maximize reporting and accounting transparency for music publishers and record labels.
Mr. Brainin has focused extensively on cultivating key client relationships among US broadcasters and similar large institutional music users. Mr. Brainin has been fundamental to Music Reports per program licensing business since its inception and previously served on the Television Music License Committee Per Program License Working Group. Mr. Brainin has also directed Music Reports' strategy in Digital Media, overseeing the expansion of the company's business in content licensing and administration for online and mobile distribution services, cable and satellite transmission services, and device manufacturers.
Mr. Brainin previously served as Senior Vice President of Administration at The Clearinghouse, Inc., a music clearance and licensing company. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Dean for Administration at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Mr. Brainin began his career as an audio engineer at independent Hollywood music studios working with featured artists and television and film composers. He is also an accomplished sound editor and post-production audio mixer and has worked on various episodic television programs, commercials, promos and feature films.
Mr. Brainin holds a BA in Economics from UCLA and MBA from the Anderson School at UCLA.
